With You, Is Where My Heaven Lies
Just a simple heartbreaking love story.
It was dark everywhere. I was running for my life. Finally, I ended up in a railway station and found a train which was supposed to depart within few seconds. I climbed into that train and the train started moving slowly. Four people came running, searching for me. I hid myself under the berth and the train almost left the station. I gave a sigh of relief. I was so tired that I didn't even notice when I fell into a deep sleep. I already had booked the ticket for this train and fortunately after so many troubles I reached the station on time.
It was morning and I had reached my destination. I was very hungry so took my breakfast and tea at the station itself and then headed over to my friend Riah's house, hoping her to be present there.
Finally after an hour, I reached Riah's home and again my good luck she was at home. She was completely shocked on seeing me in this condition because she also knew that I had run away from my house and reached to hers.
"Hey, what happened? Why you suddenly ran from your home?" She asked. "Riah, do you think that is a home?" I replied.
"I know you are frustrated by your brother's behavior, but you know its dangerous to run from your house."
"I better know Riah. And don't worry I'll not stay here for longer. Once I get a good job, I'll shift somewhere."
"Don't worry dear I'll surely help you out for getting a good job."
"But first you have to help me out with some shopping dear. I just brought two pairs of clothes." "Sure, we'll go to the mall nearby in the evening and then we'll have dinner somewhere out. OK?" "Sure. So, I'll just freshen up."
"OK."
I unpacked my luggage and got ready. I helped Riah in preparing the lunch and after having lunch we took the afternoon nap. After the nap we headed to the mall. I was looking for some good clothes store unknown to the fact that Riah had still not come out of the previous store. I looked behind to find Riah, but she wasn't there and I started to search for her. Suddenly, I clashed with a guy.
"What the hell? Can't you just watch your way? Are you blind?" I said rudely. "I'm extremely sorry." He replied politely.
"What sorry? I know you guys very well. First, you'll intentionally clash with girls and then bluntly say sorry. What you think? Am I a fool?" I almost shouted at him.
"Look, this really wasn't intentionally. I'm really sorry for this." "Oh! Shut up..."
"What are you doing here? He said he is sorry now don't fight. Let's go." Riah interrupted me, held my hand and took me to the store.
That guy was still standing there. His friend was laughing from behind. "What's so funny hah?" That guy asked his friend.
"Nothing. Just enjoyed the way she was shouting at you." He replied.
"Very funny. Now shall we move?" "Yup, let's go."
Riah and I went to the garment store where again I saw that stranger.
"Riah, look there. He is the same guy who clashed with me." I said. "So what?" Riah asked.
"So, he is following us."
"Oh please, this store is not owned by us. He too might be shopping over here. Stop thinking and doubting too much dear."
"Yeah, right I think I'm just too much stressed up."
"I think you are hungry. Let's go for dinner." "Yup, sure."
We went to the restaurant nearby and again a coincidence. I saw that guy in the restaurant too. But this time he was there not for having dinner but he was a singer over there.
"Oh no! Not again." I exclaimed. "What happened?" Riah asked. "Look who's on stage."
"Oh, that's the same guy! What a coincidence!"
"Yeah, so let's move from here."
"Why? What's the problem with this guy. Come on, stop worrying. Nothing is gonna happen. He is not following you. He is a singer here. And the food over here is awesome. So I'm not going anywhere."
"Fine."
The waiter offered the table that was just in front of the stage as no other table was available. We settled over there and he started singing. He completed his song just in front on the seat where I was sitting. I thought he intentionally did this to impress me, so I stood up in fierce and gave a tight slap.
"Stop following me." I said in anger and went out.
That guy was left speechless. He didn't even utter a word. He was still standing there in shock. Riah paid the bill and went to him.
"Hey, I'm really sorry. Actually my friend is little depressed and frustrated. I hope you understand." Riah said to him.
"Why it's always me?" He asked Riah.
"I'm really sorry." Riah said and left from there.
She came to me but did not speak to me as I was not in a mood to talk. We were waiting for the cab for a long time.
"What the hell? Are these cab fellows on strike or what?" I said in frustration. "Relax, we'll get it soon. Don't worry." Riah consoled me.
We were standing at the opposite side of the restaurant and suddenly I noticed that guy coming out of the restaurant. I was totally shell-shocked seeing him.
"Oh God!" I exclaimed.
"What happened?" Riah asked.
"Look there." I said and pointed towards him.
"Oh God! You slapped him? What were you thinking about him and what the actual situation is? Do you realize what a big mistake you have made?" Riah yelled on me.
"Ok. Fine. I've done a mistake and I do regret for that. But what should I do now?" "Go and apologize."
"I can't face him."
"You have to do it. Go." "Ok."
Now begins their introduction after a sweet sorry. The girl, her name is Roshni which means light and the guy, his name is Raag which means musical notes.
I asked Riah to go home and I would be joining her later. I realized what a big mistake I had made. I saw that guy with a stick and I realized that he was blind. So I went to him for asking apology. I know it was a big mistake and I was not worth of this apology. Still I gathered my courage and went to him.
"Excuse me." I said to him. "Yes." He replied.
"Hi... Em..." I stammered.
"Do I know you?" He asked.
"Yeah, actually I'm the one who just slapped you in there."
He didn't say anything and kept his hands on both his cheeks. "Don't worry I'm not here to hit you." I said.
"Then what are you up to?" He asked.
"Actually, I just wanted to say I'm really very sorry. I know I'm not worth it, but really I'm... I'm heartily very sorry."
"That's fine with me. And thank God that you realized it so soon."
"Please don't embarrass me. It was not intentionally, it was just by mistake. I didn't know that you can't... that you can't..."
"That I can't see? That I'm blind?"
"Please don't say this. I'm extremely sorry." "That's fine." He said with a faint smile.
I knew he was upset and he just forgave me for a sake of courtesy. But I actually was regretting on what I did. He was going away and I approached him again.
"Hey." I said.
"Yes, you want to say something." He said. "You haven't forgiven me yet."
"No, I have. Trust me." "Are you sure?"
"Yup."
"OK. Actually, I'm going on the same way if you would like to join me." "Ya, I don't mind. We'll take a cab?"
"No. I mean it's not too far we can walk."
"OK."
We started walking. There was no conversation between us. I thought of starting a conversation. "By the way I'm Roshni." I said and put my hand forward for a handshake.
"I'm Raag." He plainly said it and continued walking.
I understood that he wasn't able to figure that I had put my hand forward for a handshake. I too continued walking.
"My house is on the left side." I said. "But I have to go straight." He said "Ok. So I'll leave."
"Shall I drop you till your home?"
"Nope, I'll manage. It's just a 2 min walk." "OK. So when are we meeting next?"
"I don't know."
"Well, you can find me in the restaurant itself, anytime in evening." "OK."
"Hope to meet you soon."
"Same here."
"Good night." He said and put forward his hand for a hand shake. "Good night and sorry again." I said and shook a hand with him. Read more at Buzzle:
I reached home and found Riah waiting for me.
"Hey." Riah greeted me. "Hi!" I said.
"So, did he forgive you?"
"Ya, I think so. In fact, he accompanied me till the main street." "That's good. So what's next?"
"I don't know when I'm going to meet him next."
"Hello! I'm not asking about him. I'm asking about your plan for tomorrow."
"Oh! Nothing much. I'll search for some job ads in the paper and go for interview." "O ya, thanks for reminding me. You just get into your room, I'll catch you later." "OK."
I don't know what I reminded her of. I went into my room and changed the dress. I stood near the window looking out at the sky under a fading turquoise sky and clouds with watercolor-gray outlines, the night was as if a black piece of velvet had been lied over the sky and sprinkled with shinning gems. I just closed my eyes to intake the beauty of that night and suddenly the moment of that handshake stuck to my mind and my heart started beating faster. A faint smile appeared on my face. Riah entered my room and I came out of my thoughts.
"Hey, I just had a word with one of my friend and he said that he could help you with the job. He is the manager in the mall where we had gone for shopping. There is a vacancy for sales executive there. So we'll go there tomorrow?" Riah asked.
"Ya sure. Of course." I said.
"OK, then tomorrow at 10:30 am we'll be going there. Alright?" "Yup."
"Good night." "Good night."

Next morning I dressed up for the job interview and went to the mall with Riah. His friend took the interview and told me to join from the next day itself. I was happy to get that job. I told this good news to Riah and she too was happy for me.
"I knew it. Congrats." She greeted me.
"Thanks." I said and smiled.
"But I'm sorry. I have to leave tomorrow. I have a flight tomorrow and I'll be out for a month or more."
"Why?"
"I'm an air-hostess. I hope that you remember." "O ya. So, where would I be living now?"
"Don't worry my dear. You can stay at my place till I come back. Then we'll plan out something. Don't worry."
"Thanks. I don't know what I would have done without you."
I gave a bear hug to her.
Next day Riah left for her job and I started working in that mall.
